Microsoft has a majority market share in the new desktop PC marketplace. This is a bug, which Ubuntu is designed to fix

Yeah, number 1 for me as well. They all look nice, but I like the Arabic text and I think that the stars are a little excessive for a logo. I picked the stars one for the GDM screen though.

Definitely No. 4, with the stipulation that the same logo appears in the GDM splash. ;)

Assalamu alaikum,

I dunno how many of you brothers know but the crescent and star is actually originally a pagan symbol...it was never used by the Prophet (SAW) or the sahaba (ra)...it was actually associated with Islam by the British/Europeans because it was the flag of the ottoman empire but it was never an Islamic symbol but the opposite...

I like the "Allah" in the middle though... I think the shahadah would but appropriate but in small sizes it'd obviously look bad (and would be too much for a logo I think?)

Definitely liking the green though...very nice logo minus the crescent/starts

I Agree with Rashid, it's never done by the Prophet or the shahaba, i know that islam use moon calendar and use hilal (crescent) as a starting point to start moon calendar, but i never heard that The prophet use the crescent as a symbol....

besides that, some orientalist said that ALLOH is a moon good (this is a really bad interpretation) Subhanallah!...

i think we will not allow this to happens, won't we ?

just a thougt and suggestion, how about imagine the three circle on ubuntu logo as a "head" an then each one of the head is using a "head" cover (i don't know in english language...) in indonesia we call it surban, the other one we use (hat) peci, and the other one is using "head cover" like from saudi....

hey it's just a thought anyway....
like the green so much though...

Additional from recent post

Peci/kopiah = Head Dress used by Muslim men in south east asia, th colour it self usually black or white

Surban = Head Dress (usually a long fabric and twisted around the head) used by Muslim men in pakistan or mid asia)

Shmagh = Head Dress (usually used by muslim men in middle east)usually patches white and red)...

Colorful Hat = Head Dress (usually used by muslim men in african country)

hee hee...i think it represent the most muslims world

well it's just a thought

so crescent and star are not a good idea.
Perhaps we could replace them by "Allah" in arabic, if this is not too small to be readable...
